I offer on location or in-home lifestyle newborn photography in Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. You may have been told that newborn sessions have to happen within their first weeks. Since I tend more toward a lifestyle or documentary style shoot, these babies do not need to be sleeping and perfectly posed. We ditch the need for props and baskets and instead focus on a more natural and classic style that showcases what your beautiful life really looks like.
If you are looking for a more natural and easy going approach or if you think you may have missed the window because you have an older baby, I’m the newborn photographer for you. Yes, I do love to photograph those brand new babies and them sleeping in your arms. However, in my opinion, the most underrated age for professional photos is between 2-9 months old. These older babies are wide-eyed cuties, grabbing their feet, barely sitting up or learning how to crawl. You have not missed your window if you have an older baby!
During your session, you can expect to get a large variety of photos including baby alone, Mom and/or Dad with the baby, siblings with the baby, etc. My focus is on emotion and less on perfectly posing, so don’t worry if you feel like your baby or your kids are not cooperating or doing exactly what we ask of them. I promise you that we are getting gold. Your only job is to relax and love on your family.
Many of my clients tell me that they were able to feel completely comfortable during the session and sometimes it felt like I wasn’t even there. I’m looking for real moments and the in-between moments that focus on the love you have for one another. If there are older siblings involved, these sessions are just as much about the entire family as they are about your precious newborn.
CONTACT ME
"I was nervous about how the boys and baby would handle posing for photos after everyone was sleep deprived and dealing with the big transition, but she did an AMAZING job of just keeping it fun and easy for all of us.”
~ Madeline M.
If you are expecting or if you currently have a newborn, reach out to check availability. If you are hoping to capture your baby in those first few days, we can block off sometime around your due date. I know things don’t often go perfectly with timing, but I can let you know if I can keep several dates open around that time. If your baby is already here, let me know at what stage you are hoping to capture your baby and we can get something on the calendar.
Motherhood is so beautiful. You deserve to be in the photos and you deserve to be celebrated at every milestone. Please contact me for bundled discount options on your maternity & newborn sessions, as well as an option to add on a keepsake family film.

Since I lean more toward lifestyle photos (not perfectly posed), babies do not need to be asleep or within their first few weeks of birth. With that said, it is never too early check availability and get your session booked. I will work with you to keep several dates available since we know things don't often go as planned with delivery, etc. If your baby is already here, let me know what stage you want to capture and we can get you scheduled.
Think about clothing that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable as a new mom. When it comes to the baby, I believe that less is more. Simple clothing, soft colors, or even just a diaper! For the rest of the family, try to coordinate with colors (including several neutrals) that compliment each other without being too matchy matchy. Think about fabrics that will be comfortable to hold and snuggle your sweet baby.
A majority of newborn sessions take place in your own home. I find this to not only be more meaningful, but also to be more comfortable for the baby, parents and siblings. If you are not comfortable shooting in your own home, we can discuss the option of renting a studio or doing an outdoor session depending on the season. If the baby is older, than an outdoor session is a wonderful option!
I do not put a time limit on my newborn sessions. I understand that babies are sometimes hard to settle, siblings can have meltdowns and you might need time to feed or change diapers mid session. We are not rushed! Most of my newborn sessions start around mid morning to ensure we have time to relax and get the beautiful photos you are wishing for. On average, my newborn sessions last 1.5- 2 hours.
There is no need to deep clean your house from top to bottom. My recommendation is to tidy up areas that you think we might want to use, but we can move things around during the session. I will be looking for the best light in your home, but we can always include rooms that you want like the nursery or primary bedroom. You will want to turn off all lamps and overhead lights and open up all window coverings. We will be using all natural light!
Yes I do! If you are interested in having me as your maternity photographer and your newborn photographer, I would be honored to offer you a discount. All maternity clients will be offered a steep discount when they schedule their newborn or baby session within the first year. Please reach out to me for specific details.
