Senior Photos at the Glen Eyrie Castle in Colorado Springs

Imagine a college senior (who is also a ballroom dancer), dressed in a beautiful gown, twirling in front of a picturesque castle. It is something straight out of a fairytale, but it was reality for me! I had the joy and privilege of photographing a college senior at the Glen Eyrie Castle in Colorado Springs this month. This was my first time shooting here and I have to admit I was a little nervous going in blind, but I also knew this location meant so much to the mother and daughter. I was more than happy to make it happen for them. They both loved to go there for high tea for many years and loved how beautiful the area was. It is such a memorable place for both of them.

I like to go location scouting ahead of time and plan out my shoots, but this location did not allow for that. It was worth it though! As soon as I drove on to the property, I fell in love with the location as well. Beautiful lawns, red rock formations, wild animals and a beautiful castle! It really is a dream come true!

We had so many Cinderella moments as she ran around barefoot in front of the castle. So gorgeous!

As we got started, my senior told me she was awkward in front of the camera. My goal was to make her feel as comfortable as possible and as quickly as possible so that we could get those relaxed and natural photos. Well, turns out she was a natural and we got some many beautiful photos of her!

If you are hoping to take professional photos at Glen Eyrie, your photographer must make a reservation in advance. If there are not any conflicts, they will reserve the time and have the photographer pay a fee upon arrival. If you are overnight guests at the castle, I believe you can do a professional photo session without a fee, but a reservation is still required. While you must stay outdoors during the photo session and not use the inside of the castle, there are plenty of beautiful spaces to choose from outside. I wish we had more than an hour…I could have stayed there all day!
